A Fire TV Stick that drops Wi-Fi may be too far from the router, affected by interference or experiencing a wider network problem. These checks start with simple reversible tests.
Forget and reconnect
Open Settings, Network, select the saved Wi-Fi network and choose the option to forget it. Select the network again and enter the password carefully.
Test the router separately
Check another device in the same room. If several devices lose connection, restart the router and wait for all indicator lights and services to return.
Reduce distance and interference
Temporarily move the Fire TV Stick or router to test signal strength. Keep the streaming device away from enclosed cabinets, metal surfaces and dense cable bundles.
Use stable power
Connect the Fire TV Stick to the supplied power adapter. Unstable power can cause restarts that interrupt network sessions.
Update both sides
Install Fire TV system updates and keep the router firmware current through the router manufacturer’s normal process.
When to contact the provider
If the connection drops across multiple devices after a router restart, record the times and contact the internet provider. Do not change advanced router security settings without knowing the effect.
