A Fire TV Stick can slow down when an app cache grows or storage becomes crowded. These steps use the built-in settings and avoid deleting account data unnecessarily.
Check available storage first
Open Settings, choose My Fire TV or Device & Software, then About and Storage. The menu wording can vary by model and Fire OS version. Note which apps are using the most space before removing anything.
Clear one app cache at a time
Open Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, choose the app and select Clear Cache. Do not choose Clear Data unless you understand that it may remove local settings or sign you out.
Uninstall apps you do not use
From Manage Installed Applications, select an app you no longer need and choose Uninstall. Keep official system components installed and avoid removing services you do not recognize.
Restart after cleanup
Restart the device from My Fire TV or Device & Software. A restart gives the system an opportunity to close background processes and rebuild a clean working state.
Avoid risky “cleaner” apps
Fire TV does not require random cleaner APKs or unofficial optimization tools. Download apps through the Amazon Appstore and review the developer name before installing.
When a reset is appropriate
A factory reset is a last resort because it removes accounts, apps and settings. Back up any information you need and make sure you know the Amazon account credentials before using it.
