Buffering can come from Wi-Fi signal, network congestion, an app problem or an overloaded device. Use this checklist to identify the cause before changing advanced settings.
Test more than one app
Try a second legitimate streaming app. If only one app buffers, check that app’s service status and clear its cache instead of changing the whole network.
Restart the complete connection
Close the app, restart the Fire TV Stick and reboot the router. Wait for the router to reconnect fully before testing playback again.
Improve the Wi-Fi path
Move the router or Fire TV Stick temporarily to test distance and interference. A short test with the device closer to the router helps distinguish signal problems from app problems.
Use the supplied power
Unstable power can cause freezes and restarts that look like buffering. Test the supplied adapter and cable rather than relying on an underpowered television USB port.
Check other devices
If phones and computers also slow down, the issue may be the internet connection or local network. Pause large downloads and test at another time of day.
Keep software current
Install available Fire TV system updates and update apps through the Amazon Appstore. Do not install unofficial “speed boosters” or modified streaming applications.
